President’s Message to Members Nov. 1, 2024

We’re thrilled to announce the new DTABC Suggested Laboratory Fee Guide, adopted from the ADTO. While not mandatory, this guide marks an essential milestone for our profession, reinforcing our unity and organization like other industries with established fee guides, such as hairdressing, dental technicians now have a clear, defensible guide, essential for engaging with insurance companies, government agencies, and dental associations. With BCCOHP’s amalgamation and a government dental insurance plan underway, this tool allows us to define our worth instead of being defined by others.

The ADTO funded this guide through a comprehensive work-in-motion study, scientifically assessing each department’s workflow, time, and costs to establish sustainable fees. Supporting this guide secures our ongoing access to a fair pricing tool and shows our commitment to national collaboration that benefits dental technicians across Canada.

For all DTABC members, this guide is just one of the many valuable benefits available this year. Additional member advantages include:

  • Exclusive DTABC Personal Liability Insurance rates

  • Free early bird registration for the Pacific Dental Conference. $305.00

  • Early bird discount for Fall Spectrum Today Conferences. $50.00

  • Exclusive DTABC rate for the Denturist/Dental Technician Convention in Penticton. TBA

Combined, these benefits deliver hundreds of dollars in annual savings. You’ll also find competitive DTABC Moneris payment processing fees and bundled group health benefits for labs with two or more employees—both of which save labs hundreds to thousands each month.

To continue providing valuable new incentives and benefits for our members and to cover the rising costs of maintaining DTABC, the membership fees have been adjusted by $50 this year. One of our goals is to increase social engagement opportunities with your fellow Dental Technicians.

This year’s benefits are the best yet, and we encourage you to visit our website to explore what’s available to fit your needs. Consider joining an open board position and contribute to our mission of enhancing member value and advocating for our profession!

All the best!
